My name is Kurt Eggers and I am an undergraduate student in English at NDSU. On this blog, I have compiled the major works from my Intro to English Studies course. The Essay under “Why Read Moby Dick” examines Ishmael and Queequegs sexuality in Moby Dick, from the viewpoint that their relationship was in fact intended as homosexual. The Pecha Kucha page contains slides from a presentation I gave which argued that point. The career report page is about the career of interpreter and translator, with an emphasis on German interpretation. I’ve also included a couple works from other courses on this site because I particularly enjoyed writing them. One is an examination of the femme fatale stock character in the films of David Lynch (spiler alert), and the other delves into a particular passage from the 14th century romance Sir Gawain and the Green Knight which deals with medieval chivalry and misogyny.
